In 1986-87 the Los Angeles Lakers won their fifth championship since moving fromMinneapolis beating theBoston Celtics in a classic NBA Finals. The key moment of the heated six game series came in Game 4 when Magic Johnson took a page out of Kareem's book with a game-winning "junior" sky hook just over the outstretched arms of McHale and Parish. One of the most coveted rings from the Lakers' treasure chestthis lovely 14-karat gold example honors the franchise's successful "Drive for Five" NBAtitle run. Visually identical to the player rings presented to MagicKareem and Worthy this one was presented to a front office member. The design features five diamonds (100 total points) surrounded by "1987 WORLD CHAMPION LAKERS" on the perimeter. One shankhas the name "CLANCY" the NBA logo (in red and blue) and the years "72 80 82 85" (their other championship seasons). The othershank has "DRIVE FOR FIVE" the Lakers logo (in purple) and "LA 4 BOS 2". Interior band is stamped "14K JOSTENS" andmeasures to a size 9 1/2. Weight is 40 grams. Presents essentially NM-MT. The ring comes in its original Jostens small brown case and cardboard box with the name of the recipient ("Clancy") on a white label on the bottom an inclusion that's rare with these rings.
