The 1987-88 Los Angeles Lakers captured their second consecutive NBA crown and the teams fifth of the decade. Led by Head Coach Pat Riley and future NBA Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Magic Johnson and James Worthy the Lakers finished the regular season with a record of 62-20 to finish first in the Western Conferences Pacific Division. In the playoffs they disposed of the San Antonio Spurs in three straight games before beating the Utah Jazz (4-3) the Dallas Mavericks (4-3) and eventually outlasting the Detroit Pistons a.k.a. the Bad Boys from Motown in the NBA Finals 4-3. This lot features a team-signed Spalding NBA basketball from that memorable season. A total of 11 team members including Riley signed the ball in black marker. Notable autographs include Abdul-Jabbar Johnson Worthy Michael Cooper Byron Scott Mychal Thompson Kurt Rambis and AC Green.

A Michigan native Bruce Tennen began his sports business career in the late 1970's covering Arizona teams as an AP journalist. He spent the early '80s working in the front office for the San Diego Clippers before eventually settling down near his hometown of Detroit and building a successful career in financial services. Bruce has facilitated credit and acquisition funding for numerous Detroit Pistons players and executives. These unique experiences and connections have allowed him to build an impressive memorabilia collection. Part 1 of the Bruce Tennen Collection was featured in SCP's 2014 Fall Premier Auction.
