In 1986 the New York Mets staged an uncanny comeback in Game 6 of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox. Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the 10th inning with two outs and no one on the Mets methodically climbed back and scored a thrilling 6-5 victory at Shea Stadium. Two nights later in Game 7 despite going down 3-0 early to the Red Sox the Mets came back and won the game 8-5 and the series. In 2011 MLB Network ranked the Game 6 heart-stopper as the third greatest game of the preceding 50 years. This lot features both a team-signed commemorative bat as well as a baseball. The special edition Cooperstown Bat is engraved with the following text: Amazin Mets 1986 Mets WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS and boasts 30 signatures from team members in blue marker. The most notable autographs include World Series MVP Ray Knight Mookie Wilson Gary Carter Keith Hernandez Darryl Strawberry Wally Backman Lenny Dykstra and Kevin Elster. The team-signed baseball an official 1986 World Series baseball includes 30 individual signatures from team members in blue ink including Manager Davey Johnson on the sweet spot as well as notable players like Ray Knight Gary Carter Keith Hernandez Wally Backman Tim Teufel and George Foster.
Includes LOAs from Steiner Sports and MLB Authentication (#263402 BB bat; and # 262837 BB baseball).
