Three decades ago when finding genuine characters in Major League Baseball wasnt quite as onerous a task as it might be today elbowing about among the millionaires Oil Can Boyd still managed to stand out as a genuine folk hero with a nasty fastball to boot. Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd won 15 games as a starting pitcher for the Red Sox in 1985 arguably his finest season in the Bigs in a 10-year career with three teams most prominently with Boston. Boyd wore this gray button-down road 1985 Boston Red Sox jersey that features "BOSTON" across the chest and Boyd's No. 23 on the back in navy blue tackle twill. The front tail of the jersey features a white "Wilson 38" manufacturers size patch and below the patch is a gray strip tag with "85" stitched in navy blue. Exhibiting evidence of light game use with minimal fraying of the navy blue stitching and appears to be all original and unaltered.
