Long before he was the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers and formerly of the Boston Celtics Glenn "Doc" Rivers was a playmaking point guard for the Atlanta Hawks. For eight seasons (1983-84 to 1990-91 Rivers was a pivotal player for the Hawks and helped the team qualify for six post-season runs. This lot features a pair of Doc Rivers game-used dual-signed and inscribed Converse All-Star shoes from the 1985-86 campaign.
The white and red size 13.5 leather shoes show ample game use and include their original laces. During that particular season the Hawks finished with a regular-season record of 50-32 as Rivers averaged 11.5 points and 8.4 assists per outing. The pair was obtained by a former ball boy of the Atlanta Hawks who watched Rivers as he signed both of the shoes in black ink with the following inscription: "Good Luck Glenn Rivers 'Doc'". An interesting sports artifact from a player/coach who has been to the top of the NBA mountain.
