After Ali retired from the ring in 1981, he couldn’t help but remain in the public spotlight. Besides being one of boxing’s respected elders, Ali spoke out on international human rights causes, promoted the spirituality he found in the Muslim religion, and contributed generously to philanthropic causes around the globe. This closeup photo shows Ali on the podium for one of his speaking engagements in 1984. “The Champ” gazes into the distance with a look of determined amusement – as we all know, Ali was in his element when appearing at a press conference and this photo captures that perfectly.
The Type 1 photo measures 8” x 10” with thick, clean white borders and presents in essentially mint condition. The back has Buster Dean’s credit stamp along with a Houston Chronical property stamp and two 1984 date stamps. “Muhammed Ai – Boxer” has been handwritten in the upper left corner. Encapsulated Type I by PSA/DNA.
