Presented is a 1984-85 Republic of Ireland National Team home jersey match-worn by the Premier League's star striker Frank Stapleton and preserved in the Oscar Bernardi Collection. Stapleton remains one of the most decorated players in Irish football history, wearing the proud shamrock shirt in 71 international matches over 15 years (1976-90). He scored 20 goals for Ireland as the central figure in the Republic's growing international profile under manager Eoin Hand. During his incredible club career, he tallied 151 goals most notably with Arsenal (1974-81) and Manchester United (1981-87).

The short-sleeve jersey made by Irish apparel brand O'Neills comes in bright green heavy cotton material featuring a white V-neck collar and Adidas three-stripe detailing along the shoulders. The left chest bears the embroidered Football Association of Ireland (FAI) badge — a classic shield-shaped design with three green shamrocks on a white background, one of international football's most recognizable and charming national crests. A black O'Neills label is visible at the collar interior. The O"Neills logo on the right chest has almost completely faded away. The reverse displays a large number "9" in white fabric. The shirt jersey exhibits ample wear with fabric pilling and a frayed back number.

The Oscar Bernardi Collection

This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
