It might a tough sell to convince younger fans but for those old enough to remember Richard Nixon in the White House and later in the dog house the 5-7 160-lb. Joe Morgan might well have been the most feared hitter in the National League in the mid-1970's. We know this by: a) virtue of the fact he won consecutive National League MVP's in 1975-76 as his Reds also captured two World Series; and b) we are old enough to remember both Nixons. Considered one of the greatest second basemen of all-time Morgan was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990. How cool then to have a pair of shoes from the man who stole 689 bases in his fabled career a number that plants him firmly at No. 11 on the all-time list shoes dating to his final year with the Philadelphia Phillies near the end of his career. These shoes have the "Adidas" name and logo imprinted in red on the white heel protective piece; the cloth blue-and-white Adidas label appears on the tongue flap of each shoe and his No. 8 is hand written in black marker on the inside of the flap. The shoes show game use and are quite pristine with white laces intact and without incident. Morgan has provided his autograph on the burgundy leather piece on the right shoe near the toe signing in vivid silver Sharpie.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
