The 1982 St. Louis Cardinals managed by Whitey Herzog went 92-70 during the regular season and won their first-ever National League East Division title by three games over the Philadelphia Phillies. They defeated the Atlanta Braves in three straight games in the NLCS to claim their first N.L. pennant since 1968. From there they went on to win the World Series in seven games over the American League champion Milwaukee Brewers. It was the Cardinals' first World Championship since 1967 and their last until they opened the current Busch Stadium in 2006. At the plate the Cards we led by the steady bats of Lonnie Smith (.307) Keith Hernandez (.299) and Willie McGee (.296) while starting pitchers Joaquin Andujar and Bob Forsch both registered 15 wins apiece.

This lot features a beautiful 1982 St. Louis Cardinals 10K Gold World Championship ring that was presented to one of the teams front office executives General Manager Joe McDonald. The face features a large real diamond atop a red ruby gemstone surrounded by "CARDINALS WORLD CHAMPIONS" in raised lettering. One shank has "MCDONALD" and raised images of both the Cardinals and STL logos. The other shank has "1982" with raised images of the World Series trophy as well as Busch Stadium II. Both "10K" and the Jostens logo are stamped inside the band. The size of the ring is 9 ¾ and it weighs 32 grams. The ring is in pristine condition as it was rarely worn it or even handled. A special memento from yet another stellar season in St. Louis Cardinals history.
