Reggie Smith was a hard-swinging outfielder for both the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 1960s and 70s. Over a 17-year career (1966 to '82) he launched 314 home runs and drove in 1092 runs. Six of his final seven seasons in the majors were spent playing for the Dodgers including 1980 when he hit .322 with 100 hits including 15 home runs. This lot features Smith 1980 game-worn and signed Los Angeles Dodgers road jersey. The size 42 gray jersey (No. 8) exhibits good game usage with soiling around the collar and includes a special 1980 L.A. Dodgers All-Star Game patch on the left sleeve as the Dodgers hosted the Mid-Summer Classic that season. Proper tagging exists as the W.A. Goodman & Sons manufacturers tag can be found on the inside rear collar complete with washing instructions included. The team name Dodgers appears across the front in Dodger blue tackle twill script lettering outline in white. His jersey number 8 appears in red tackle twill on the left chest. R. SMITH can be found on the reverse in semi-circular fashion across the top in Dodger blue tackle twill outlined in white as well as his uniform number 8 which measures eight inches tall. Fraying of the numbers and letters on the jersey exists and all eight original buttons remain intact.
Includes Letter of Opinion from MEARS with a perfect grade of A10. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
