Who wants a fresh Larry Bird and Magic Johnson rookie, maybe two or three? After forty years of a constantly progressing card market, Topps' 1980-81 basketball issue continues its reign as one of the most timeless and creatively designed card sets ever produced. The two rookie studs it introduced to the hobby would help revitalize the most bitter cross-coast rivalry in sports and commercialize the NBA into the behomoth international business it is today.
Featured here is an unopened wax box of 36 packs from this iconic set Each pack displays a 25¢ price and contains 24 three-player combos cards, offering plenty of opportunities to potentially pull the coveted #34 Bird/#174 Erving/139 Johnson Scoring Leaders rookie or perhaps other combos with Magic, Bird, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Moses Malone, etc. If there was a Mount Rushmore of unopened basketball, an '80-81 wax box would be on there.
The box's exterior, exhibiting moderate surface wear and compressed edges, has been authenticated and sealed in plastic wrapping by Steve Hart of Baseball Card Exchange with BBCE's descriptive label (Cert. #A1211).
