As noted in the Great American Baseball Card Flipping Trading and Bubble Gum Book every youngster in America in the 1950's wanted to be Ted Williams so it only follows that every more mature collector decades later might want to own a jersey worn by the Red Sox's greatest player. Thus from a Hall of Famer who needs no introduction comes this splendid - and we use that adjective advisedly - game-worn coach's jersey worn in the 1979 season on Old Timer's Day plus his cap from the same event.

The jersey features Williams' legendary No. 9 on the back in red-on-blue tackle twill with autograph in black marker directly above it. The seven button-down shirt has the McAuliffe manufacturer's label on the front-left tail with a wash instructions flag tag attached and '1979' and '46' embroidered flag tags above and below. "RED SOX" is across the front in red-on-blue tackle twill and the jersey boasts the distinctive red piping around the collar and down the front. The shirt displays light-to-moderate game use and what appears to be a little pine tar stained to the right sleeve. Overall it is in problem-free condition without apparent alterations of any kind. The cap has Pro KM labeling at the back of the sweatband as well as Pro KM imprinting along the band with the Size '7 1/2' imprinting next to it. A smaller Size '7 1/8' flag tag appears inside the band near the front. Williams' No. 9 has been hand-written on the under side of the brim. Like the shirt the cap is in spectacular condition showing the sweat marks that come from game use.
