Captured here from 1979 is Boston Celtics rookie forward Larry Bird, in his legendary #33, battling Ben Poquette (#50) of the Utah Jazz.
Celtics fans were just getting acquainted with "The Hick from French Lick" Indiana, and this image captures the competitive spirit of Larry, getting airborne above the parquet floor in the Boston Garden for a rebound.
This image is from Bird's debut season, when he was named Rookie of the Year. Note that legendary sportswriter Bob Ryan is keenly observing from the press table.
PSA has authenticated and encapsulated this original 7" X 9" Type I photo, which includes the typical Type I markings on the reverse. Larry was definitely an original, and so is this!
