Offered from the Oscar Collection is a match-worn Republic of Ireland national team home jersey attributed to Frank Stapleton from 1978 — a significant era piece from one of Irish football's most important figures.
The jersey is constructed in a vibrant kelly green cotton/polyester blend, cut in the classic boxy style of the late 1970s. A bold v-neck collar is trimmed in horizontal bands of white, green, and gold — consistent with Ireland's period-specific kit design. The left chest bears a white shield-shaped crest with an embroidered green shamrock crest of the Football Association of Ireland. No maker's mark is visible on the front. The reverse displays a large white number 8 applied in a chunky felt/twill style consistent with the era. The sleeves carry the same green-white-gold striped trim as the collar.
The jersey shows age-appropriate wear throughout, with softening to the fabric and general evidence of use. Frank Stapleton was one of Ireland's most prolific strikers of his era, earning 71 caps between 1977 and 1990 and scoring 20 international goals. The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
