Featured here is an extremely rare Moscow Union EC Hockey wood stick signed by 20 members of the 1976 USSR Olympic Gold Medal Champion team - one of the most dominant hockey squads ever. The 1976 Winter Games were held in Innsbruck Austria. The main rivalry in hockey at these Games was between the USSR and Czechoslovakia. In the final the Czechs were up 2-0 after the first period and 3-2 with eight minutes left in the final period until the USSR got clutch goals from Aleksandr Yakushev and Valeri Kharlamov just one minute apart to win it 4-3 for the Red Army. It was the Russians' fourth straight gold medal at the Olympics and fifth out of a possible six to that point. Their triumph would eventually set the stage for perhaps the biggest upset in sports history at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Games when the USA dethroned their rivals in the "Miracle on Ice."

We are not adept at identifying these Russian autographs as some could be in Cyrillic but the following were notable players from this powerhouse dynasty: Vladislav Tretiak (goaltender considered one of the best ever); Boris Mikhailov (forward) Valeri Kharlamov (forward) Vladimir Petrov (center) Valeri Vasiliev (defenseman captain) Aleksandr Maltsev (forward/center) Boris Alexandrov (forward) and Aleksandr Yakushev (forward) to name a few. The blue ink signatures average 6/10 overall.

Includes Letter of Provenance from renowned Olympic memorabilia collector and auctioneer Ingrid O'Neil. She acquired this stick directly from former USA Hockey General Manager Art Berglund who had that role at the '76 and '88 Games.

PSA/DNA's opinion on the stick was "Inconclusive" due to lack of exemplars in their data base.
