Offered here is one of the finest George Brett game used bats you will find, a 1976 "bicentennial" Louisville Slugger 'T85S' pro model from early in his Hall of Fame career with the Royals. Collectors favor the Bicentennial logo on the barrel dating it to MLB's 100th anniversary season. Most available Brett gamers are from his 1980's prime or the early '90's when his legacy had largely been written. His 1970's exemplars are fewer and far between.

1976 was Brett's third full big league season in Kansas City. He made his first of 13 straight All-Star games and batted .333 to earn his first of three AL batting crowns. He remains the only player ever to win each one in three different decades. After leading the league with 215 hits, 14 triples and 298 total bases, Brett finished second in AL MVP voting. Of course, the best was yet to come for the fiery third baseman.

The un-cracked bat (34.5" and 31.4 oz.) shows excellent use with ball marks and stitch impressions all over the barrel. Also present are blue bat rack streaks. There is a lighter coat of pine tar than usual on the mid-handle. Brett's number "5" is written on the knob in black marker. Brett signed the left barrel in blue marker and added the inscription "To Bob All My Very Best."

John Taube of PSA/DNA has given the bat a GU 8.5 assessment. An additional PSA/DNA LOA certifies the signature and inscription. (The last '76 Brett centennial bat to surface was graded GU 9 and sold for $31,200.)
