Sidney Wicks was a standout college basketball player who battled for the UCLA Bruins under head coach John Wooden. Standing 6’ 9” tall he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1970 Final Four when the Bruins won their sixth NCAA championship after defeating the Jacksonville Dolphins in the title game 80-69. He went on to play professionally for the Seattle SuperSonics for five seasons before landing in Boston for two years. This lot features Wicks’ game worn Boston Celtics home white jersey that he donned from the start of the 1976-77 season to 1978.
Exhibiting light wear throughout the size 44 jersey has the proper “Boston Celtics” exclusivity and "Medalist/Sand Knit" tags sewn onto the left front tail. “CELTICS” appears across the chest in green tackle twill letters with his uniform number “12” appearing below. On the back of the jersey is his last name (“WICKS”) also in green tackle twill letters with his number “12” falling below in similar fashion. The collar and both arm yokes feature the Celtics’ white and green elastic trim. During his two-year stint in Beantown Wicks averaged 31 minutes and 14.3 points per outing.
