Hall of Famer Willie Mays was the quintessential five-tool player. Considered one of the best if not the best center fielders in history Mays played 22 seasons in the majors the first 20 of which were spent playing for the New York and then San Francisco Giants. He compiled a total of 660 home runs and knocked in 1903 runs to go along with a .302 career batting average the final tallies of which occurred back in New York City as an idolized member of the New York Mets. For 69 games in 1972 and another 66 games in 73 Mays came back to The Big Apple and played at his old position where he launched his final 14 round-trippers and knocked in his last 44 runs.

Offered here is the twice-autographed final game-worn Mets jersey from the man who provided more thrills to the people of New York City than just about any player in history. The home white Rawlings white-and-blue knit pinstriped masterpiece has "Mets 24" in classic orange-and-blue on the chest with larger number "24" again on the back. Classic Mets logo patch sporting the the New York City skyline adorns the left sleeve. The inside rear collar has a strip tag with the all-important digits "42 73 24" sewn in to represent jersey size year and uniform number. The right front tail includes original red "Rawlings [size] 42" manufacturers tag. Some game use is evident which goes to show that that even in his 22nd MLB year the Say Hey Kid could still kick up some dirt on the baseball diamond. Mays autographed the jersey not once but twice. The first signature in slightly faded Black sharpie is located just above the Mets logo on the jersey front. The second autograph signed in blue marker with the inscription HOF 79 can be found just below the No. 24 on the front of the jersey.
