1973 New York Mets National League Championship pendant presented to the wife of then Mets General Manager Bob Scheffing. The baseball lifer served many years as a scout for the Mets before rising to Director of Player Development and eventually GM from 1970-74. The '73 Mets were one of the more fortunate teams in baseball history finishing with a 82-79 record to claim the NL East division. Their .509 winning percentage remains the lowest of any pennant winner in MLB history. They lost a tight seven-game series to Oakland in the World Series. The 1 1/8" in diameter pendant features real diamonds at center of a black stone with a raised "1973 N.Y. METS N.L. CHAMPIONS" on the face. Back stamped "1/10 10K LGB 10K MTG". Weight 14 grams.
Includes Letter of Provenance from Bob Scheffings son.
