The New York Knicks have recorded two NBA titles in their rich history: 1969-70 and 1972-73. Led to victory by seven-foot center and team captain Willis Reed during both campaigns the Knicks knocked off the Western Conference Champion Los Angeles Lakers in both NBA Finals. This lot features an incredible limited-edition (#69/100) black shadowbox display (25" wide by 37" high) filled with memorabilia and an autographed floor piece celebrating both titles and their subsequent seasons. In addition to program covers from the 1970-71 and 1973-74 campaigns as well as team photos from the two championship squads the 2.5" deep shadowbox includes copies of both the 1970 Game 7 box score/scorecard and a Western Union telegram from former NYC Mayor John V. Lindsay sent to head coach Red Holzman and the team following the clinching 113-99 victory in Los Angeles. The crowning piece to this overall shadowbox display however comes in the form of an actual piece of the 1973 Madison Square Garden (8.5" wide by 12" high) floor upon which 14 members of the team have signed their names. Top signatures include Coach Red Holzman along with Basketball Hall of Famers Willis Reed Phil Jackson Earl Monroe Walt Frazier Dave DeBusschere and Bill Bradley. Sporting a pair of headlines from the next day's New York Daily News (May 9 1970 and May 11 1973) on the Plexiglas front the shadowbox display will serve as a conversation piece every time friends come over to visit.
