Hall of Fame slugger Al Kaline played his entire 22-year MLB career with the Detroit Tigers. A perennial All-Star who played in 13 straight Mid-Summer Classics from 1955 to 1967 Kaline was both a power hitter (399 home runs) as well as a consistent .300 hitter who finished his playing days with a .297 lifetime batting average. Nicknamed Mr. Tiger Kaline was also a great right fielder who earned 10 Gold Gloves awards and reached the magical 3000-hit plateau during his final season of 1974.

This lot features Kalines 1973 Detroit Tigers game-worn home jersey a season in which he collected 79 more hits including 10 home runs and drove in 45 more runs. The button-down knit white jersey shows moderate wear and includes the Wilson manufacturers tag (size 44) complete with washing instructions sewn into the rear of the inside collar. Proper tagging exists on the left front tail as well as a sewn-on chain-stitched tag reads 73 Set 1 to reflect the season and jersey set number. Detroits classic Old English D logo adorns the left breast area in navy blue tackle twill as does his last name KALINE and jersey number 6 on the reverse. The Tigers trademark navy blue piping runs up and down the front of the jersey and wraps around the collar. All elements of the jersey including the original seven buttons remain intact and problem-free. Kaline has autographed the inside right front tail of the jersey in black marker.

The jersey was sourced from Lindell A.C. a notorious Detroit sports bar across the street from old Tiger Stadium (many called it "Americas first sports bar") frequented by many Tigers and visiting ballplayers (i.e. Mickey Mantle Billy Martin). The bar owner received this Kaline gamer and other items from local sports heroes and displayed them proudly. The bar closed in 2002.

Includes Letter of Opinion from MEARS with a grade of A10.

Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
