This torch was used to carry the flame for the 1972 Munich Olympics the scene of Mark Spitz's record-breaking 7 gold medals as well as the unfortunate massacre of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches at the hands of Palestinian terrorists. The nickel chromium torch is engraved "M’¼nchen 1972" with the interlocking Olympic rings logo plus "Spiele der XX Olympiade" on the handle. The round platform at the base of the combustion tube bears the emblem of the Games representing a crown of rays of light. The knob of the handle is engraved "KRUPP" with three interlocking rings. The torch is 28" long (71 cm) with the round platform having a diameter of 8" (20 cm). It presents in EX-NM condition.
