Pete Rose won three World Series rings three batting titles and two Gold Gloves but the achievement on the diamond that will forever define his major league career is his record 4256 hits. This prized flannel garment was worn by baseball's all-time hit king Pete Rose during the heart of his Cincinnati Reds tenure. The grey road flannel jersey is lettered "Cincinnati" across the front and features the number "14" on the left breast and reverse. "Rose" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numbers are in solid red. A flannel strip tag in the collar features the name "Rose" chain-stitched in red. A "Wilson 42" label is stitched on the left front tail above the year "1971" in red chain-stitch. Rose has signed the jersey on the right breast in black Sharpie on the left with his added notation "1971". This jersey dates from the final season that flannel jerseys were worn by the Reds as the club switched over to knits in 1972. The jersey remains original and unaltered showing moderate usage wear with excellent overall display quality. The perennially dominant "Charlie Hustle" posted a .304 average in 1971 marking his seventh of nine straight seasons of .300-plus hitting. He also launched an uncharacteristically high 13 home runs that year. Rose flannels are rare and highly coveted by collectors especially when seen with the ideal physical traits of the offered example. Includes a comprehensive LOA from MEARS (Graded A10).
