Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the football legend known only as Pelé, signed his first professional contract in 1956 at the age of 15 with prestigious Brazilian club, Santos FC. The following year, he made his first appearance with the Brazil National Team at age 16. During his prolific international career, Pelé won three FIFA World Cup championships (1958, 1962 and 1970) – the only player ever to do so for his country. He retired as Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 77 goals in 91 caps.

Featured here is a stunning, hobby-fresh pair of Pelé match worn and dual-signed Puma cleats dating to 1971 with the Brazil National Team and Santos FC. The black boots have Puma’s trademarked Formstrip logo in bright yellow on each side. While no size is labeled on the interior, they measure out to his appropriate size 10. The original laces and insoles are intact. The six white studs on the bottoms of each cleat are slightly worn down from use, and the exterior leather has aged wonderfully. Overall, they show light to moderate use.

While most of his Brazilian teammates sported Adidas boots in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, Pelé stayed loyal to the Puma brand. This exact style was often seen on his feet in both Seleção and Santos FC matches. The football icon has autographed each cleat in bold silver marker rating 10/10 in strength and eye appeal. There may not be a superior pair of Pelé match boots in the market in terms of aesthetics and display quality.

Authentication & Provenance:

Letters of Authenticity from MEARS for the cleats and PSA/DNA for the autographs. Letter of Provenance from former Brazilian footballer José Maria Rodrigues Alves, better known as Zé Maria, who played right-back for the Brazil National Team for over a decade (47 caps from 1968-78) and spent 14 seasons with the Corinthians (1970-83). He was given this pair of cleats by Pelé.
