The photographer creates a unique action shot with this semi-fisheye shot of Muhammad Ali in action. The date is June 15, 1971, and Ali is gearing up to fight Jimmy Ellis in Houston. At the same time, Ali was anxiously awaiting the Supreme Court decision regarding his 1967 conviction for draft evasion. A week after this photo was taken, the court ruled in his favor and Ali was able to re-start his career. A tremendous photo snapped at one of the most important periods in Muhammad Ali career. The Type 1 photo has been printed to the edges. There is some chipping along the edges and a crease on the top right corner. The back of the photo has Ali name erroneously cataloged by his former name of Cassius Clay (possibly due to that being the name used in the upcoming Supreme Court decision) and 1971 Training. The original Chicago Daily News date stamp and clipping is affixed below, identifying Alonzo Johnson as his sparring partner and Navy Pier as the location. The photo has been encapsulated and graded Type 1 Authentic by PSA.
