Pistol Pete Maravich's 1970 Topps rookie card (#123) stands as one of the great basketball rookie cards of the vintage era, capturing "The Pistol" at the very outset of his legendary NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks. This example has been graded PSA NM-MT 8 — an outstanding grade that places it among the finest known copies of one of the hobby's most beloved basketball cards.

 

The card features Maravich in his distinctive full-body pose against a vibrant green background, with the familiar tall Topps format of the era. The reverse documents his record-breaking college career at LSU — where he averaged 44.2 points per game over his varsity career and broke Oscar Robertson's all-time NCAA scoring record — in the biographical text and career statistics panel.

 

Maravich went on to become one of the greatest and most creative scorers in NBA history, with his 1977 scoring title season of 31.1 points per game cementing his legend. High-grade examples of this rookie card are extremely desirable and increasingly scarce. A PSA 8 represents superb quality for this key vintage basketball issue.
