Jerry West's rookie card from the 1961-62 Fleer set captures the future "Mr. Clutch" early in his Hall of Fame career with the Los Angeles Lakers, graded SGC EX-NM+ 6.5 — a strong condition grade for a notoriously difficult issue to find well-preserved. The card's bright yellow and cream design features the Lakers' vintage cartoon logo alongside a clean black-and-white action portrait of West reaching skyward. Fleer's 1961-62 basketball set was produced for only a single season and is renowned among collectors for its condition sensitivity and scarcity relative to demand.

 

The reverse details his standout rookie campaign, averaging 17.6 points per game after a celebrated career at West Virginia, where he scored 28 points per game in college. A clean, well-centered example of one of the most important rookie cards in the entire vintage basketball hobby, representing a true cornerstone for any pre-war or early basketball card collection.
