The 1969 New York Yankees managed by Ralph Houk finished the regular season with a record of 80-81 which placed them fifth in the A.L. East standings. The Yankees offense was led by left fielder Roy White (.290 BA) and second baseman Horace Clarke (.285). In the pitching department Mel Stottlemyre and Fritz Peterson led the team with 20 and 17 wins respectively. The ’69 campaign also marked the MLB debut of a rookie catcher by the name of Thurman Munson.This lot features a 1969 New York Yankees team-signed baseball. The official Pro League Spalding baseball boasts 23 signatures in blue ink from that year’s squad including Munson Peterson Gene Michael and Al Downing and Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Cox. Note: The signatures of Stottlemyre Joe Pepitone and Bobby Murcer have all been deemed “clubhouse” versions.Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA.
