Presented here is a rarity for ticket collectors: a 1969 Super Bowl III Yellow Variation Full Ticket certified by PSA with documented provenance from its important original recipient, a longtime TV executive from NBC and CBS Sports named Carl Lindemann. The only caveat is that is comes encased in a lucite holder making it impossible for PSA give it a number grade. Their ticket evaluator confirmed its authencitity as a full yellow and it includes an official letter (dated 2012) from PSA's current CEO, Joe Orlando.

At present time, the PSA Pop Report indicates that only 19 yellow fulls have ever been encapsulated from this iconic game played January 12, 1969 at the Orange Bowl in Miami between the AFL Champion New York Jets and the NFL Champion Baltimore Colts. A brash, young “Broadway” Joe Namath predicted victory, then led his Jets to a stunning 16-7 win over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts to give the AFL it's first ever World Championship. Namath claimed MVP honors despite not throwing a touchdown pass in the game, or even attempting a pass in the 4th quarter.

The $12 face value ticket to football's biggest game in '69 is laughable compared to the current price of entry. The original yellow colors have turned to a pinkish tint presumably from light exposure. LOAs from the TV exec's estate say the ticket was "displayed proudly [in his office] at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan." The 3/4" thick lucite block encasement (7-1/4" by 3-1/4") has preserved this ticket pristinely, besides the color. Corners are very sharp, edges are super straight, surface appears totally smooth and the back looks nearly perfect. If not encased and kept away from light, we could be looking at one of the highest graded examples here. After all, it would only need to get a EX-MT 6 to achieve that title. Unfortunately, cracking open this lucite holder could damage the ticket so we'll probably never know. It should be noted that SCP sold an EX-MT 6 (pop 3) for $59,098 in our 2017 Winter Auction. We've also sold an EX 5 (pop 2) for just under $45K and two different FR 1.5 examples in yellow for around $30K apiece.

Includes COA from PSA/DNA (S11731) plus letter of provenance from the estate of Carl Lindemann Jr. (who passed away in 1985) notarized by his daughter.
