This 1969 Pele Match used jersey shows absolutely outstanding wear with staining, number fraying, small holes, and dirt marks throughout. A true museum-quality relic from one of, if not the greatest, soccer players that the world will ever witness. With a Letter of Authenticity directly from Garrincha’s daughter, this jersey has impeccable provenance on par with the jersey’s historical significance.
In 1969, Pele was thrust into the spotlight with one of soccer’s most unfathomable milestones in reach: the 1,000 goal mark. A milestone that was previously untouched in soccer’s entire history would swiftly fall to the “King of Soccer”, during that unforgettable year. This jersey represents the chance to own one of Pele’s fabled relic from a season that rewrote the record books. Needless to say, Pele jerseys from the 1969 season are extremely scarce.
It should also be noted that the jersey is a rare long-sleeve style that Pele wore sparingly throughout the 1969 season. Most, but not all, pictures from that season are of him in short-sleeve jerseys. In one of the original photos taken after his 1,000th goal, Pele is spotted wearing a long-sleeve jersey that is an exact style match to the one seen here.
The jersey comes with a COA from Sports Investor's Authentication, confirming that the jersey was match-worn by Pele himself. The jersey is also accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Garrincha’s daughter, who attests to the jersey originally being gifted to her father.
