If you like basketball history, you'll appreciate this item. Two of the greatest coaches ever in college basketball were good friends during their heydays leading their blue blood programs. Forrest "Phog" Allen played at Kansas University under basketball inventor James Naismith in the early 1900's before embarking on a storied coaching/admin career in Lawrence, KS, that lasted forty years. KU's famous Allen Fieldhouse honors his name. Adolph Rupp spent over forty years at the University of Kentucky where he led the Wildcats to four NCAA titles.

This Adolph Rupp typed signed letter in 1969 to an aging Phog Allen wishes him good health and regrets not being able to see him at an upcoming  Naismith Hall of Fame meeting in Springfield, MA. Both were esteemed inductees who remained actively involved in the institution for their entire lives. Allen would pass away in 1974 at the age of 88. Rupp coached through 1972 and would die five years later at age 76. This rare TSL between two legends comes on UK letterhead and is signed by Rupp on the back in 9/10 blue ballpoint ink. It has been authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett.
