This amazing purple knit gamer by W.A. Goodman & Sons was worn by Bill Flett during the 1969-70 NHL season the team's third year in the National Hockey League. He scored 32 points in that season en route to a standout 13-year career that totaled 187 points for five different teams. When the NHL expanded from six to 12 teams in 1967 Flett was drafted by the expansion Los Angeles Kings. In his rookie season playing on right wing he scored 26 goals and was named The Sporting News NHL West Division Rookie of the Year. Flett was nicknamed "Cowboy" because in addition to being a hockey player he owned a cattle ranch in Alberta and he was also a rodeo performer. Flett's rodeo career ended when the Los Angeles Kings owner Jack Kent Cooke threatened to fine him $1000 for every rodeo he appeared in. He was well known throughout his career for being one of the few hockey players at the time to sport a full beard and for being one of the last players to play without a helmet. This road purple knit gamer by Goodman & Sons has the gold strip knit highlights at the waist collar and sleeves. The shirt has the Goodman & Sons (Size 48) tag on the inside shirt tail with adjacent wash instructions tagging and features the intricately embroidered crown patch at the front of the shirt and gold and white tackle twill for his No. 9 on the back and sleeves. Flett has provided a very attractive black Sharpie signature to the top of his No. 9 on the back adding his "Cowboy" inscription. The jersey shows game-use including stick marks and a number of tears and holes on the sleeves and appears and a good deal of wear visible on the tackle twill No. 9 on the back and appears to have no alterations of any kind.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
