1969 Los Angeles Dodgers road game worn jersey belonging to lifelong Dodger player and coach Jim Gilliam. Signed by the Dodgers from the Negro Leagues in 1951 Gilliam came to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1953 and won National League Rookie of the Year honors. He remained with them until retiring as a player in 1966. From there he moved right into the coaching box and remained a Dodger coach until his untimely death in 1978. His #19 was retired two days after his death by the Dodgers. "Los Angeles" in blue felt and Gilliam's number "19" in red felt across the chest. Large "19" in blue felt of the back. 100th Anniversary of baseball patch sewn on left sleeve. Rawlings size 42 and washing instructions tag sewn in front tail. "Gilliam 68" in script stitched in blue present there also. Totally original jersey displays light wear consistent with being a coach and is in beautiful condition. Outstanding jersey from one of the All-Time Dodger Greats!
