Gorgeous 1967 Boston Red Sox 10K Gold American League Championship ring presented to Scouting Director Neil Mahoney who spent over 30 years with the organization and was instrumental in building their '76 and 1975 AL Champion squads. The 1967 Boston Red Sox thanks largely to Carl Yastrzemski's MVP and Triple Crown season finished with a winning record for the first time in 9 years shocking the baseball world by winning the American League Championship and reaching the World Series for the first time since 1946. After falling behind 3 games to 1 the Sox won the next 2 to set up a deciding Game 7. Jim Lonborg winner of games 2 & 5 was set to face Hall of Famer Bob Gibson winner of games 1 & 4. Lonborg pitching on short rest was knocked from the game after the 6th and Gibson pitched a masterful 3-hitter to give the Cardinals the title.
The ring is a thing of beauty. Large 10 karat yellow gold "B" formed with 2 red stones sits atop the face surrounded by "BOSTON RED SOX AL CHAMPIONS" in gorgeous raised lettering. One side panel has "1967" with the Red Sox logo atop a ball over crossed bats. The other has "MAHONEY" with a Red Sox cap over crossed bats and a pretty ball-in-glove design below. Inside stamped "BALFOUR 10K". Ring size 9 1/2. Outstanding World Series ring from one of the most popular Red Sox teams ever!
