This outstanding Adirondack bat was used by Hank Aaron during the 1968 season in which he reached the first of his many career milestones. The occasion was his 500th career home run, a 3-run shot off Giants pitcher Mike McCormick on July 14, 1968. Of course, Aaron would go on to reach other milestones such as his 3,000th hit in 1969 and the career home run record in 1974, but the 500-HR plateau he reached earlier cemented his legacy as one of the all-time greats.

Dating to his 500th home run season, this Adirondack '63A' professional model shows moderate use with a crack in the knob. The manufacturing date of 1968 is shown by the thin blue ring on the handle, with later models distinguished by their thicker blue ring. The right barrel shows several ball marks and there are blue bat rack streaks on the left and back barrel and handle. Aaron’s distinctive number “44” has been handwritten on both ends in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with a seemingly unfair GU 7 grade.
