This offered Olympic bronze medal from the 1968 Grenoble(France) Winter Games is one of the finest examples available in the hobby presented to a member of the third-place Canadian Men's Ice Hockey team. The Grenoble Winter Olympics allowed East and West Germany to participate separately for the first time andalso marked the first the IOC mandated drug and gender testing ofcompetitors. 37 nations participated with 1158 athletes across 35 eventsin just five sports. Norway won the most medals the first time Russia didnot lead the medal count since they began competing in the WinterOlympics in 1956. The Soviet Union did however continue their dominance on the ice beating Czechoslovakia in the hockey final for the gold medal. Canada defeated Sweden in the bronze medal game.

This rare 3rd place winner's bronze medal is made ofpure bronze measuring 60 mm in diameter 4 mm thick and weighing 128grams. Designed by Roger Excoffon the obverse has "GRENOBLE 1968" andthe '68 Winter Games logo within the French legend (Xemes JEUXOLYMPIQUES D.HIVER"). The reverse has a rendition of a hockey player skater inmovement with "HOCKEY SUR GLACE" ('Ice Hockey' in French). It was thefirst time winner's medals marked the sport on the reverse. "BR" engraved on bottom edge. All winner's medals from the '68 Winter Games camewith a multicolor ribbon. This one is all-original in remarkable problem-free condition measuring 18" long (36" if cut and fully stretched). The medal itself displays lighthandling and presents in NM-MT condition and comes in its original black presentation box emblazoned with the Grenoble Games emblem.
