With a NM-MT PSA 8 grading this is the highest graded example of a 1967 Super Bowl I gold variation full unused ticket. Only one other in this PSA 8 grading exists with nothing rated higher! It stands as an iconic memento for perhaps the most significant football game ever. In June 1966 the NFL and AFL announced a merger resulting initially in the creation of a title game between the two league champions at the end of the '66 season.. For the Packers a 1-point loss to the 49ers and a 3-point loss to the Vikings were all that prevented a perfect season. Bart Starr was nearly flawless completing 62 percent of his passes with only three interceptions in being named NFL MVP. Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung began the final chapters of their storied careers. The defense ranked third in the league giving up just 17 touchdowns all season. The Packers launched the Super Bowl series by whipping the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 behind the passing of Bart Starr the receiving of Max McGee and a key interception by All-Pro safety Willie Wood. Vince Lombardi's repeating NFL champions broke open the game with three second-half touchdowns. Starr completed 16 of 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and was chosen as the game's Most Valuable Player. The Packers collected $15000 per player and the Chiefs $7500 apiece - the largest single-game shares in the history of team sports at the time. This gold variation Super Bowl I ticket a $12 Reserved Seat is super clean front and back with NM-MT corners overall. SMR value $15000. One of only two of its kinds known. A highly significant collectible from a landmark event in sports history. Comes from one of the top Super Bowl ticket collections on the registry.
