Baseball Hall of Famer Orlando “Baby Bull” Cepeda had a season to remember in 1967. He not only led the National League in runs batted in with 111 but batted .325 with 25 home runs and 37 doubles to his credit and was named N.L. MVP for his outstanding efforts. He also helped his team the St. Louis Cardinals win the N.L. pennant and then outlast the A.L. Champion Boston Red Sox in the Fall Classic four games to three. This lot features Cepeda’s 1967 autographed St. Louis Cardinals game-worn road jersey from that championship season.

The gray flannel jersey which shows outstanding game use with slight staining on the front includes proper "Rawlings" tagging (size 44) on the left front tail positioned just above red chain-stitching reading "Cepeda 67" to reflect the player name and season in which it was issued. Further a washing instructions tag exists just below the chain-stitching and includes a sewn-on flag tag reading "SET 1 1967." The jersey features "Cardinals" embroidered across the chest in red-on-blue script lettering with the famed birds-on-bat logo highlighting the team name. Cepeda's uniform number "30" can be found in double felt (red on navy blue) numbering stretching 4.25" tall on the left breast area. On the jersey's reverse can be found "CEPEDA" in semi-circular fashion across the shoulders in red-on-blue felt lettering positioned just above his uniform number "30" which stretches seven inches tall. The jersey shows noticeable puckering around the letters and numbers and sports a couple of moth-eaten holes on three of the letters in his last name: "E" "E" and "A." Four manufactured air holes exist underneath each armpit and only six of the original seven original buttons down the front of the jersey remain intact. Cepeda has signed the front of the jersey just below his uniform number in black marker. A remarkable gamer from a remarkable player who enjoyed a stellar season in 1967.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
