What more could any aspiring Little Leaguer ask for than to own a genuine Louisville Slugger bat just like their favorite ballplayer? This eye-catching display poster showcases the line of player-endorsed bats offered by the company for 1967. The players depicted along the bottom of the poster are a who’s-who of the greatest players of the day including Mickey Mantle Roberto Clemente Roger Maris Hank Aaron Al Kaline Ernie Banks Brooks Robinson Orlando Cepeda Frank Robinson Carl Yastrzemski Joe Torre Tony Oliva Pete Rose Rocky Colavito Ken Harrelson Rusty Staub Tim McCarver Jim Fregosi and Willie Horton. Each have their facsimile signature printed beside their images to reinforce Louisville Slugger’s renown signature model bats. The top portion of the ad features Mickey Mantle Roberto Clemente Brooks Robinson Rusty Staub and Joe Torre model bats along with an oval in which prices were to be written by the distributer. Because the pieces were printed on very thin stock and were often discarded when no longer needed surviving examples of this poster are exceedingly rare and this is one of the finest in the hobby. The 22 ½” x 35” display poster shows toning and edgewear. There is some discoloration from tape residue along each corner and a few areas of staining though none severely distract from the color and visual impact of the piece. The display poster has been professionally matted and framed to enhance the color and eye-catching qualities of the piece. We have not seen this unique excellent condition piece offered at auction before. This piece offers a delightful blend of the stars of the 50s with the bats kids used to emulate them.
