It's not often collectors have a chance to bid on museum-quality material like this: the actual Official ABA Basketball used to produce the longest shot ever made in any professional basketball game. Jerry Harkness, who played with the Knicks and the Indiana Pacers from 1963-69, placed himself squarely in the NBA record books and beyond, by taking an inbound pass as the final seconds ticked off in a Nov. 13, 1967 game against between the Dallas Chaparrals and the Pacers. Harkness threw the ball through the hoop at a brisk 92 feet, winning the game for the Pacers, 119-118, and earning himself a bit of immortality in the process. The ball in question would likely be regarded as in Good condition, with multiple scratches and scuffing throughout every panel but otherwise a completely intact ball of all of 45 years of age. Comes housed in a six-sided plexiglass holder that has a black and gold plaque noting the Pacers as ABA Champions in 1970, 1972 and 1973.

Provenance is supplied by a detailed, signed and dated letter from Harkness telling his historic tale.
