Jack "Chief" Aker was a right-handed reliever who pitched a total of 11 seasons in the major leagues including his first four with the Kansas City A's. This lot features Aker's 1966 Kansas City Athletics game-worn home jersey a campaign in which he notched 32 saves and a 1.99 ERA on his way to being named The Sporting News Fireman of the Year. On the front left tail is the proper "McAULIFFE" manufacturer's tag. Attached below it are the size "44" and year "66" strip tags. On the left front chest is the "A" logo in green on yellow tackle twill. On the right front chest and on back is the player number "23" in the same tackle twill fashion. The front number is a team repair replacement while the piping and front "A" are quality restorations. The jersey shows incredible game-use.
