Here then is an amazing piece of baseball history all neatly encapsulated literally and figuratively in this full unused ticket from Game Seven of the 1964 World Series. The import of this event could hardly be overstated: the aging Yankees dynasty seemingly was crumbling as that Fall Classic arrived and with its Hall of Fame nucleus of Mickey Mantle Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra aging briskly the crushing defeat at the hands of the Cardinals Bob Gibson (Series MVP) would signal the beginning of a decade spent finding other worthwhile activities in October. But this Game Seven beauty also commemorates Mantles 18th and final World Series home run (and third in the Series) a three-run monster he socked in the sixth inning that nudged the Yankees closer but Gibson worked his magic and held them off to nail down his MVP. The full unused ticket is housed in a PSA holder and anointed a PSA 7 Near-Mint grade a worthy designation for such an historic artifact.
