This 1964 Tokyo Olympics participation medal presents in NM-MT condition. Made of dark copper it was designed by T.Okamoto/K.Tanaka and minted by Mint Bureau of the Ministry of Finance. The obverse depicts stylized figures of three runners and a swimmer in a lovely dimensional patina. The reverse shows Olympic rings between the Japanese legend "XVIII OLYMPIAD" and "TOKYO 1964" with Japanese lettering. The name of the designer "OKAMATO TARO" is etched on the obverse at the bottom. Weight is 80 grams diameter is 60 mm and thickness is 3-5 mm. 5586 athletes participated.
