PSA has graded the high-quality example as NM-MT 8. Panels of various colors decorate the lower sections of the cards, displaying the player's name, position, and team. These panels extend to the bottom of the card, making the corners susceptible to damage and wear. Consequently, finding these cards in a high-grade condition isn't easy.

McCovey, a formidable power hitter from the left side, established himself as one of the greatest in his position. When he retired in 1980, McCovey held the second-highest career home run record for left-handed batters, following closely behind Babe Ruth. His overall ranking places him seventh among all players today; McCovey occupies the 20th spot on baseball's all-time home run list, a position he shares with Ted Williams and Frank Thomas. Throughout his career, he earned six All-Star selections, secured the title of home run champion three times, and even received the prestigious MVP award. Recognizing his exceptional contributions, McCovey was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986, gaining this honor in his first year of eligibility. At that time, he became one of only 16 individuals to receive such recognition.
