The displayed example has been assigned a PSA grade of NM-MT 8. Only 23 copies graded higher. The 1963 Topps baseball card set is highly esteemed among vintage collectors. It took inspiration from the 1953 Topps Baseball set and elevated its design with striking photography and vibrant colors. The cards feature panels in various colors at the bottom, showcasing the player's name, position, and team. However, due to this design, the corners of the cards are susceptible to damage and wear, making it difficult to find these cards in a high-grade condition.
Gibson, renowned for his intense drive to win, achieved 251 victories, 3,117 strikeouts, and a 2.91 ERA throughout his career. He was named an All-Star nine times and won the World Series twice. Additionally, he received two Cy Young Awards and was honored with the 1968 National League MVP award. The highlight of Gibson's career came in 1968 when he maintained an impressive 1.12 ERA for the season and set a record with 17 strikeouts in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series.
