This brilliant Type 1 photograph brilliantly captures the brash young Cassius Clay in the early stages of his professional career. Taken upon his arrival at London Airport, Clay raises five fingers to the camera indicating his prediction of a fifth round victory in his upcoming fight against Henry Cooper. In the leadup to the fight, Clay honed the trash talk he’d become legendary for, calling British Empire Heavyweight Champ, "a tramp, a bum, and a cripple not worth training for." Clay’s airport prediction, which this Type 1 photo wonderfully captures, came true, with Cooper going down on a TKO in the fifth. This Type 1 photo has great contrast with nice overall toning and has all four borders. The reverse of the photo has the Mirrorpic credit stamp and a litany of hand written notations, date stamps, and the original caption slug. Encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
