Ron Bonham was a standout basketball throughout his life. As a senior playing for Muncie Central High School he averaged 28 points per game and earned Indiana's "Mr. Basketball" award as he led his team to the state runner-up spot. As a sophomore in college playing for the Cincinnati Bearcats Bonham averaged 14.3 points per game led the Bearcats with a .760 free throw percentage and earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors. Not only did the Bearcats win the MVC title they posted an overall record of 29-2 and won their second straight NCAA championship with a 71-59 win on March 24 1962 over Ohio State.
This lot features a 1962 University of Cincinnati NCAA Championship watch that was presented to Bonham following the team’s latest title. The Lord Elgin gold with black face wristwatch includes “NCAA” and “BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS 1962” in gold on the face. The back of the watch is engraved with the following: “10K RGP BEZEL STAINLESS BACK.” The two-tone gold and silver band is adjustable completely original and remains in great shape. It comes packaged inside its original Lord Elgin presentation box with red velvet interior lining.
