A first baseman Frank Torre who batted and threw left-handed played for the Milwaukee Braves (195660) and Philadelphia Phillies (196263). He was the older brother of Baseball Hall of Fame member Joe Torre himself a former Major League Baseball player and longtime manager. Torre batted .310 for the Phillies in 1962 the highest average he recorded in his career. Torre played 714 games batting .273 with 13 home runs and 179 RBIs. This important grey flannel road jersey boasts the Phillies chenille embroidered lettering across the front and his No. 16 on the back with some barely perceptible separation in some of the chenille stitching on the front and more prominent on the back. "F.Torre" is chain stitched on a strip tag inside the collar. Wilson Size 44 tag is affixed to the tail front along with "1962" strip tag. Four ventilation holes (as made) appear under each armpit. The jersey shows game use and remains in fine original condition with beautiful eye appeal.
