Second baseman Red Schoendienst was one of the most popular men to ever wear a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. Chosen to 10 All-Star teams during the late 1940's and 1950's the slick-fielding hard-hitting redhead won a World Series as a player in '46 and went on to manage the Cards to another World Championship in '67 during his long tenure as the Redbirds skipper. Offered here is one of his Adirondack 119S personal model bats measuring 33" and weighing 33.8 oz. that dates to the 1961-67 period when Red transitioned from player to player-manager to manager. It has his No. "2" marked in black on the knob end and shows light to moderate use. There is a small pinhole drilled into the knob end from how it was once mounted and displayed a minor blemish on this un-cracked beauty. Includes letter of provenance from the family of the St. Louis Cardinals' team dentist in the 1940's and 50's.
