The 1962 Packers were essentially the same gang that Vince Lombardi led to Green Bay’s first World Championship in '61. Including Lombardi this team boasted no less than 11 future Hall of Famers and they played like it edging out a tough Giants team 16-7 in the 1962 NFL Championship Game. This commemorative ball brings together virtually the entire roster of Green Bays’ first modern dynasty. The ball is a Wilson/Thorpe Sporting Goods “The Duke” model that has been customized with special “GREEN BAY PACKERS” and “1961-1962 WORLD CHAMPIONS” stamping. 52 members of this historic championship dynasty have signed the ball including Pro Football Hall of Famers Vince Lombardi Bart Starr Ray Nitschke Paul Hornung Forrest Gregg Willie Davis Henry Jordan Willie Wood and Jim Taylor.
Other autographs include Fuzzy Thurston Ron Kramer Jerry Kramer Max McGee Tom Moore Bob Jeter Dan Currie Hank Gremminger Ron Kostelnik Lionel Aldridge Jesse Whittenton Marv Fleming Bob Skoronski Elijah Pitts Ed Blaine Norm Masters Boyd Dowler Frank Mestnik Lew Carpenter Dan Grimm Urban Henry Chuck Morris John Symank Jan Barrett Nelson Toburen Bill Quinlan Howie Williams Ken Iman as well as coaches Norb Hecker and Ray Cochran. Jim Ringo Herb Adderley Dave Robinson and the second Boyd Dowler (twice signed one authentic) have been deemed Clubhouse signatures by PSA. All autographs are in uniform black ballpoint ink and range 5-8/10 in our book. Lombardi is 5-6. The golden brown ball shows very little aging allowing the signatures to display very legibly. A museum-quality piece of Green Bay Packers history.
Full LOA from PSA/DNA (AC00541). It should be noted that PSA is calling this a 1963 Packers ball but there arejust as many signatures from players part of both the '61 and '62 Championship quads. It is a legitimate 1961-62 team signed football.
